Paolo Nutini was joined by New York rapper Angel Haze for a secret show to launch his comeback after a break from the spotlight.
The Glaswegian singer premiered songs from his new album Caustic Love at a low-key north London gig for fans, with a crowd of just 500 watching the performance.
Haze, who was in London for a gig of her own, stepped up to perform on new song Fashion during the encore at The Dome in Tufnell Park. The album version will feature Janelle Monae when it comes out in April.
Paolo will step up the scale of his performances over the coming months as he plays to thousands to promote the record, including a slot at BBC Radio 1's One Big Weekend, which is being staged in Glasgow in May.
The 27-year-old played better known songs such as Pencil Full Of Lead, as well as newer material such as Let Me Down Easy.
''I appreciate you haven't heard these songs before so thank you for coming to check them out, hopefully you will know them soon so you can sing along,'' he told the audience.
Paolo dedicated a song to his mother Linda who was looking on - called Looking For Something - telling her: "I love you mum."
