Zayn Malik has not ruled out a reunion with former band One Direction.
Malik (22) devastated fans when left the band in March last year citing his desire to be a "normal 22-year-old".
Since then he has worked on solo material and is poised to release his first solo single, Pillow Talk, on Friday January 29.
One Direction are embarking on a two-year hiatus but when asked about the band's 'inevitable reunion' by the Sunday Times Culture magazine, Zayn said he would consider joining his former bandmates.
"Who knows?" he said, "I don't know. If the time was right and that was the right thing to do, then I would make that decision when it came around."
He said he has "no beef" with Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, and Niall Horan, and that he has received "an email" from one of them, although he added, "I don't even wanna say names."
Zayn's album is due for release in March and, of the subject matter of his first solo single, he said, "I think I'm pretty black and white what it's about."
"Everybody has sex, and it's something people wanna hear about. It's part of everybody's life, a very BIG part of life! And you don't wanna sweep it under the carpet. It has to be talked about."
