Woman jailed for using Ed Sheeran song to torture her neighbour
A woman has been jailed for using an Ed Sheeran song to torture her neighbour.
The mum-of-three played Ed Sheeran's hit song, Shape of You, on repeat at top volume during the night to taunt her neighbours.
On one occasion, she blasted the single on loop for half an hour.
Sonia Bryce (36) caused a "wholly unacceptable level of disturbance", a judge said.
Her landlords secured a court order barring her from creating a nuisance or annoyance, ITV reports.
She has been arrested repeatedly for breaching the injunction and was handed a six-week jail term in December.
Once she returned home, she played the same Ed Sheeran song on repeat for around half an hour. After receiving complaints from a neighbour, she was back in court.
Bryce’s neighbour, mother-of-five Clare Tidmash, called the Sheeran incident “the straw that broke the camel’s back”.
She was given an eight-week jail sentence and told by a judge: "You must learn that you should behave as a reasonable and responsible adult and not make life for your neighbours the misery that you have.
"Everybody is entitled to live in a degree of peace and quiet with the usual give and take of society, but you do not behave like a civilised person, and you have got to learn that you will."
Sheeran's Shape of You is currently number one in the Irish and UK singles charts after 11 weeks.
