'We'll come and sing to you, have a drink with you... meet your mum and dad' - Take that fan pays €1.3m for private concert
A Take That fan has bid £1.1 million (€1.3 million) for a private show, in an auction for Children In Need.
Elaine Fairfax, a businesswoman from London, placed the bid on Chris Evans' Radio 2 breakfast show this morning.
She managed to outbid another generous fan who put forward £500,000 (€589,000) for the show.
Gary Barlow was "shocked" to hear the news when Evans called him on the phone.
"We'll come and sing to you, have a drink with you, have selfies, see your friends, meet your mum and dad," said Barlow.
"Whatever you want us to do, we'll do it.
"Try and get rid of us. You'll be pushing us out the door by the end if it."
Chris Evans suggested the idea of a private concert auction to Barlow in an email during the week. Fellow bandmates Mark Owen and Howard Donald agreed to take part and the deal was made within four minutes.
The proceeds will go to Children In Need, which stages its annual telethon tonight.
