WATCH: U2 play 'October' live for first time in 26 years

U2 treated fans at their Madison Square Garden concert on Saturday to a rare performance of their 1981 track 'October'.

According to Rolling Stone it was the first time the band had played the song since they performed in New Zealand during the Lovetown tour in November 1989.

Bono and the Edge played the song on the first of an eight night stint at the iconic New York venue.

Wathing the performance on the night were Jon Bon Jovi, Christy Turlington, Salman Rushdie, and Harry Belafonte.
