Irish Eurovision hopeful Brendan Murray channelled his inner Britney Spears with a mesmerising rendition of 'Hit Me One More Time' in Kiev on Monday night.

Armed with just his guitar and a microphone Brendan charmed the delegations from Serbia, Malta, Croatia, Switzerland and Bulgaria with his dulcet tones at a reception held in his honour in Irish bar O'Briens on Monday night.

As well as a series of covers he also sang his Eurovision song Dying to Try and reduced the singer from Serbia to tears with the power of his voice.

Once she gathered herself together, Tijana Bogicevic joined Brendan to duet on Adele's Someone Like You.

It's been a busy few days for Team Ireland since they touched down in Kiev on Sunday as momentum builds ahead of the first semi final tonight, and Brendan's performance at the second semi-final on Thursday.

Last night saw Team Ireland hit the red carpet before news broke that Norwegian juror Per Sundnes was replaced by Erland Bakke 'due to a breach of juror rules'.

Speaking on the official countdown show to the Eurovision earlier this week, Mr Sundnes made comments that suggested he had negative preconceptions about Ireland's entry, allegedly saying that Ireland have "lost it completely" when it comes to the Eurovision.

When ranking all of the songs at this year's Eurovision during a segment, he gave Ireland's entry Dying to Try by Brendan Murray the lowest rank of one point - the only country to receive such a low rating.

Brendan appeared to be unfazed by the furore, taking to the mic to deliver a series of acoustic treats to the assembled delegations on Tuesday night.
