U2 have surprised fans by busking on the subway in New York with Jimmy Fallon in tow.

The band is scheduled to appear on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon on Friday as the only guests and have been recording segments across New York this week.

One clip from U2ItlaianFans/INstagram shows frontman Bono singing Angel of Harlem at Grand Central Terminal.

Earlier this week Bono and Fallon were spotted recreating Bono's Central Park bike fall which left him with several broken bones and forced them to postpone their week long residency at the Tonight Show.

this makes a compelling case for subway travel!! @U2 www.u2.com. wheeeeeeee!!!!

Host Fallon cycles by his side on a child's bicycle complete with handlebar streamers and a floral basket.
