U2 make top three richest musicians in the UK Sunday Times Rich List

Irish rockers U2 are among the richest musicians in the UK with only Sir Paul McCartney and Andrew Lloyd Webber earning more last year.

The Dublin band are third in the Sunday Times Rich List top 20 millionaires in music having raked in £548 (€646) million compared to the former Beatles star and his wife Nancy Shevell's £780 (€919) million and Lloyd Webber's £740 (€872) million.

Sir Elton John comes in fourth with £290 (€340) million and Stones band members Sir Mick Jagger and Keith Richards come in fifth and sixth, earing £250 (€294) million and £235 (€277) million respectively.

Michael Flatley, meanwhile, shares eighth position with Ringo Starr with £200 (€235) million each.

The highest solo female musician in the list is Adele whose wealth rose from £85 (€100) million to £125 (€147) million on the back of her hit album 25 and accompanying tour.

She shares 19th position on the list with Queen guitarist Brian May.
