Two small-time crooks were caught red-handed at the weekend when they tried to flog tickets to a Kodaline gig - to two members of the band.

The ill-prepared duo failed to recognise frontman Steve Garrigan and bass player Mark Prendergast and approached them asking if they wanted tickets to a non-existent Kodaline concert.

Predictably, Garrigan and Prendergast declined the offer before dubbing the ne'er-do-wells "chancers".

Mark tweeted that the two men had attempted to charge them the bargain price of €5 into the fictional gig.

The band have just landed in Chicago where they're due to perform at the Lollapolooza music festival.
