Wonderwall by Oasis has been voted the ultimate British song, according to a Best of British poll by Radio X.
Listeners of the rock and guitar-based music station cast more than 50,000 votes for the inaugural chart.
Britpop group Oasis, fronted by warring Mancunian siblings Liam and Noel Gallagher, dominated the top 10.
Four tracks from the chart-topping band were voted into the Best of British poll, with Don't Look Back In Anger at number two, followed by Champagne Supernova and Live Forever at number four.
Oasis made almost as many headlines as records courtesy of the Gallagher brothers' fractious relationship.
The band had eight UK number one singles and albums and sold an estimated 70 million records before their split in 2009.
Northern bands dominated the results of the Radio X poll with tracks by The Stone Roses, Sheffield's Arctic Monkeys and The Verve making up the majority of the top 10.
Liverpool's The Beatles cracked the top 20 with Hey Jude at number 13 and A Day In The Life six places below at number 19.
I Am The Resurrection by The Stone Roses polled at number five, with Arctic Monkeys hit I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor one place below the Manchester band.
The late David Bowie is one of two representatives from the south of England in the top 10.
The London-born star's classics Heroes and Life On Mars? took seventh and eighth place respectively.
The Verve, who were formed in Wigan, are at number nine with Bittersweet Symphony, while the top 10 is rounded out by enduring rockers The Rolling Stones.
The London-formed band, who have just performed a historic free concert in Cuba, were voted into 10th place with Gimme Shelter.
Sir Mick Jagger, Ronnie Wood, Charlie Watts and Keith Richards continue to perform the song, which first appeared as the opening track on their 1969 album Let It Bleed.
Radio X, which launched in September 2015, also revealed how its presenters voted in the poll.
DJ Chris Moyles backed Coldplay's Viva La Vida, while Vernon Kay chose Sex Pistols' Anarchy In The UK.
Managing editor of Radio X Chris Baughen said: "We received more than 50,000 votes in just over two weeks showing how much our listeners love British music."
