Speculation has been rife recently that the former Voice UK judge was gearing up to say goodbye to the long-running band and start a solo career.

Howerver, he has now set the record straight – and took a cheeky jab at One Direction in the process.

The Dubliner confirmed on social media that he will be staying put in the group that was formed 15 years ago.

“Solos?” We’re not in One Direction. Is being a world class drummer not enough for you,” he wrote.

The group also recently tweeted a photo of themselves working hard in the studio on some new music, meaning fans can rest easy.

“Writing session today... any guesses what we’re writing about?”

One Direction are currently busy on solo projects following their decision to take a break. Mullingar native Niall Horan has his hands full working with his talent agency Modest Golf Management and was recently spotted leaving a recording studio in London.
