Taylor Swift's mum, who recently revealed she is battling cancer, made an emotional speech about her talented daughter at the ACM Awards.

Swift’s “very proud” mother Andrea gushed over her daughter while presenting the 25-year-old musician with her Milestone Award trophy.

"I've watched this milestone artist from the time she was a tangle-haired little girl growing up on our farm full of imagination and creativity," Andrea told the audience.

“For many years, I was her constant companion. And I witnessed a young girl with few friends become a young woman with many, learning to stand up for herself and the things she believes in.

“I'd like to thank the ACMs for honouring her in this way. But I'd also like to thank the entire music community for taking such good care of her."

Two weeks ago the Blank Space singer shared the news about her mother Andrea, 57, with her fans in an emotional Tumblr post.

"This is something my family and I thought you should know about now," Swift said.

"For Christmas this year, I asked my mom that one of her gifts to me be her going to the doctor to get screened for any health issues, just to ease some worries of mine.

"She agreed, and went in to get checked. There were no red flags and she felt perfectly fine, but she did it just to get me and my brother off her case about it.

"The results came in, and I'm saddened to tell you that my mom has been diagnosed with cancer. I'd like to keep the details of her condition and treatment plans private, but she wanted you to know."

Taylor was just one of several winners at this year's Academy of Country Music Awards.

The 31-year-old Kerosene singer scooped up seven nominations at the 2015 ACMs, more than any other artist.

The songstress took home the Song of the Year trophy for her tune Automatic and the Album of the Year award for her record Platinum, the coveted 50th Anniversary Milestone Award and she was also dubbed Female Vocalist of the Year.

Miranda was presented with her 50th Anniversary Milestone Award by stunning duo Sofia Vergara and Reese Witherspoon.

During her acceptance speech the Platinum crooner made it clear she shares the accolade with fans.

“Thank you so much for allowing me to live my dream. I love you so much, thank you,” she noted.

The 50th Anniversary Milestone Award was also given to Brooks & Dunn, Taylor Swift, Garth Brooks, Reba McEntire, Kenny Chesney and George Straight in honour of their career achievements, which have altered the country music industry forever.

Miranda’s performance wasn’t the only hot set of the evening, as band Florida Georgia Line sang their song Sippin’ on Fire while surrounded by flames. The fiery spectacle literally sent the crowd into chaotic glee.
