Ed Sheeran and Mark Ronson will jet across the Atlantic with high hopes of winning a Grammy Award.

The pair received three nominations each, but that pales in comparison to US singer Kendrick Lamar, who leads this year's awards with 11 nominations.

Taylor Swift and The Weekend earned seven nominations apiece, with Drake landing five nods.

Sheeran's emotive ballad, 'Thinking Out Loud', is up for Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.

The 24-year-old tweeted: "I wasn't expecting the Grammy noms, thank you."

Ronson's collaboration with Bruno Mars on 'Uptown Funk' won the pair three nominations in the Best Pop Vocal, Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance categories.

Other British acts who have secured nominations include James Bay, Florence + The Machine, Ellie Goulding and Lianne La Havas.
