One Direction fans devastated as Zayn Malik removes 1D from Twitter profile

It's another day of utter devastation for One Direction fans as Zayn Malik has taken the final step in extricating himself from the band.

The 22-year-old singer removed a reference to 1D and the band's website from his Twitter bio, a move which has upset die-hard Directioners.

The youngsters have, as usual, taken to Twitter to voice their distress and the hashtag #YouWillAlwaysBeZaynMalik1D has been trending all night and morning.

One distraught fan wrote, "THIS FUCKING TRUE OR WHAT? IM BREAKING DOWN IN TEARS CAN SOMEONE HELP ME #YouWillAlwyasBeMyZaynMalik1D".

Her reaction was not unusual, with many fans calling on Zayn to remember where he's from, which is, apparently, One Direction, and not his hometown of East Bowling.
