Missy Elliott, Kelly Clarkson and a host of big names have joined America's First Lady Michelle Obama to record a female empowerment anthem.

America's First Lady Michelle Obama will be giving the keynote speech at the SXSW music festival in Austin to talk about her Let Girls Learn initiative - aimed at boosting education rates amongst adolescent girls around the world who are denied the right to an education.

The speech will feature Missy Elliott, Diane Warren, and Sophia Bush, and will be moderated by Queen Latifah.

As part of the campaign and in conjunction with Women's History Month, the First Lady has enlisted the help of some of today's top female artists including Missy Elliott, Kelly Clakrson, Zendaya, Kelly Rowland, Janelle Monae, Lea Michele and newcomers Chloe & Halle, who are signed to Beyonce's entertainment label, and Jadagrace for a track called This Is For My Girls.

The mid-tempo tune, written by Oscar-nominee Diane Warren, includes the lyrics: "This is for my girls all around the world/Stand up and be heard... Stand up, hold your head up, don’t take nothing from nobody."

The song will be available for purchase on iTunes on Wednesday.

All the artists waived royalties and fees to participate on the project, and all proceeds will go towards the Let Girls Learn Fund.
