Galway welcomed rapper Macklemore with opens arms as he hit the city for some down time on Wednesday.

Having sold out three whopper dates at the 3Arena last weekend he headed west and was snapped with countless fans as he traversed the city trying on some Irish tweed and dropping into Compu B.

Fans took to Twitter to voice their joy at his presence and he was inundated with invites to join them for pints, tea and coffee in local hotspots from the G Hotel to An Tobar Nua cafe.

One fan also requested he go and "meet your biggest fan at Dunnes Knocknacara Galway" while another invited him to play some hurling, "any chance ye would fancy a puck around while in Galway?"
