LCD Soundsystem debuted new music at the first of their five New York gigs last night - but fans who didn't make it to the show will have to wait to hear what's on offer.

James Murphy treated the audience to three new titles, Tonight, Call the Police, and American Dream, but prior to the show the group had explicitly asked concert goers not to record the show.

In a flyer, they wrote, “Please don’t film the new songs.  It’d be a real gutpunch to all the people who have been working insanely hard for the last 18 months to release this music in the way we want to release it.”

They also reminded fans that there is no point recording them performing their older material as "We already made a movie out of those and you're not gonna find a 'better angle' with your iPhone than Spike Jonze found with his camera."

It has been a whopping seven years since the group released any music.  Their last album, This Is Happening, released in 2010.

A new album is expected this year.
