Former X Factor wild child Cher Lloyd has said she would not allow a daughter of hers to appear on the show at the age she did, saying it "messed with my head".
The 20-year-old told a tabloid newspaper that she was not ready to appear on the reality talent show in 20120 - when she was a "very confused, angry 16 year old" - which led her to make mistakes.
The singer, whose debut single Swagger Jagger went to number one in 2011, told the paper: "I felt like people thought there was something wrong with who I was.
"I'd go into a room and they'd talk about how they'd need to change the way I dressed and did my make-up.
"No-one explained anything to me and it made me feel really hurt and very angry.
"I behaved badly because that was the only way I could deal with it.
"If I had a 16-year-old daughter, I wouldn't let her do a show like that. I wasn't ready and it just messed with my head."
Lloyd, from Malvern, Worcestershire, was signed by Syco Music after coming fourth in the ITV1 talent show and has since achieved success in the United States.
But the outspoken star, who releases her Sirens EP on July 20, has also managed to row with former X Factor mentor Cheryl Cole, complaining in 2012 that she had not heard from the Girls Aloud singer since she was on the Simon Cowell show.
She also told the paper about her marriage to hairdresser Craig Monk last November, saying how she enjoyed being a wife.
"People think I'm young because I'm just 20, but where I come from it's normal to get married at 16," she said.
"I wanted a quiet wedding, we both did. It was just very low-key.
"I wanted to keep it as private as possible so it was just about us and our closest friends and families."
