FRESH from their performance on Later..with Jools Holland, trad sensations Lynched are one of the star attractions at the Ennis Trad Festival from November 5-9.
Lynched are a four-piece traditional folk group from Dublin, combining distinctive four-part vocal harmonies with arrangements of uilleann pipes, concertina, Russian accordion, fiddle and guitar.
Their repertoire spans humorous Dublin music-hall ditties and street-songs, classic ballads from the Traveller tradition, traditional Irish and American dance tunes, and their own original material.
The Ennis festival features an eclectic mix of formal concerts, an impressive session trail throughout the town, instrument master classes, a céili, a number of CD launches, set dancing classes, the ever popular Trad Disco and Trad 4 Teens.
The Session Trail has proven to be ever popular throughout the years, with over 80 sessions featuring 250 musicians over the five days, with each and everyone one of them free.
On Friday, The Old Ground Hotel will host the From Boffin to Burren concert featuring Kieran Hanrahan, Dessie & John O’Halloran, Padraic & Damien O’Reilly and Cáitlin Nic Gabhán.
Later on at The Queens Nightclub, the Festival Cub will introduce The Bonnymen plus Eoghan Neff.
While Beoga and the Trad Disco, at midnight is the highlight of Saturday at the Auburn Lodge Hotel.
There is a special concert on Sunday presenting a double bill of Lynched and Ulaid (featuring John McSharry, Dónal O’Connor and Seán Óg Graham).
