The Wagon Wheel (26), who last week performed at the Rose of Tralee festival, said the show will feature some of his musical heroes.

“We’re filming the series this week in Sligo,” he told the Irish Daily Mail.

“It’s music and chat, so I’m presenting too which is kind of daunting.”

Earlier this summer, Carter came out on top at the inaugural Irish Country Music Awards on RTE One.

Carter impressed TV chiefs after recording the one hour special, The Nathan Carter Show, which aired last Christmas.

“I did the pilot for them at Christmas which went out before New Year and it went really well.”

“It’s new to me but I’m looking forward to it.”

The Liverpool-born star revealed that his toughest interviewees for the Christmas show were his parents, Ian and Noreen, as well as his grandparents.

His builder father joked that Nathan cost him a fortune in gloves when he went to work.
