They haven’t had a home gig in a few years but Boyzone are planning a homecoming to mark their 25th anniversary.

They spent the summer touring in the UK and Asia but didn’t manage to make it home.

“The gigs in England over the summer were great because they were every weekend, so we could plan around them,” Shane Lynch told the Herald.

“It was no pressure or hassle and we got to do our own thing during the week and go away with our families. Asia was fabulous as well, but we didn’t get the opportunity to gig here.

“Touring is a hard thing to do so we’re not going to do much until the 25th anniversary, which is two years away.

“We’ll do a big tour for that, maybe from the end of 2017,” he added.

The 39-year-old said touring in Asia brought them back to their heyday.

“There was so much excitement. The TV shows we did were electric, and when we landed at the airport it was just like being back in the 90s,” he said.

“The army was there to pick us up because there were that many people – all that stuff we had forgotten

existed because we are that little bit older now.”

While Shane, Ronan Keating, Mickey Graham and Keith Duffy are all working on their solo projects, they are also hoping to produce new material.
