THIS summer will see headline acts such as Kraftwerk, Phoenix and Vampire Weekend touch down on Irish soil for the brand new indie music festival, Longitude.
Music promoter MCD last night announced the line-up for this year's inaugural event, which takes place in Dublin's Marlay Park from July 19 to 21.
Phoenix will kick things off on the Friday, with New York rockers Vampire Weekend on Saturday, and Kraftwerk set to perform their 3D concert on the Sunday night. Other confirmed acts over the three days include Foals, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Villagers and Hot Chip.
Longitude will take place on the same dates as the hugely popular UK festival Latitude – born of MCD partner Live Nation.
Speaking to the Irish Independent, MCD's Zach Desmond said he has been "rooting for such a festival for a while".
"I'm really looking forward to it, it's been six months in the making and it's not just a carbon copy of Latitude. While we love what they do, we wanted to prove that we can do something different," he said.
"It's city-based, for non-campers and will also be geared towards families, who will have their own area on site."
Joining the likes of Slane Castle, Oxegen and Electric Picnic, aficionados now have another weekend event to look forward to.
Early bird tickets are priced at €44.50 inclusive of booking fee – if booked before April 7. Tickets go on sale next Monday, March 4.
