Millions tune in for Haiti telethon

George Clooney's Hope For Haiti Now telethon was watched by more than 80 million people.
The Nielsen Co said an estimated 83 million people saw at least a brief part of the fundraiser, which was organised by the Up In The Air actor and was carried on 33 TV networks and streamed online.
The audience watching the two-hour event at any given time averaged 24 million viewers.
The telethon featured stars such as Brad Pitt, Beyonce, Madonna and Bruce Springsteen using their presence to encourage donations for Haiti following the earthquake that killed an estimated 200,000 people.
Organisers for the telethon said it has raised 57 million dollars, with more donations still to come in.
