Miley Cyrus set for chart glory

Controversy surrounding Miley Cyrus hasn't hurt her music sales

Miley Cyrus looks set for UK chart success after weeks of controversy surrounding the star.

The US singer is expected to score a chart double with her latest single Wrecking Ball and her new album Bangerz, according to the Official Charts Company.

If Miley, 20, maintains her midweek lead until Sunday she will become the first act to secure the chart double in 2013.

Miley hit the headlines when she twerked at Robin Thicke at the MTV Video Music awards while wearing a nude bikini and dancing suggestively with a foam finger.

Singer Sinead O'Connor recently warned the young singer to avoid being sexually exploited by the music industry.

Miley responded on Twitter by mentioning Sinead's struggles with bipolar disorder and t he feud between the performers escalated when Sinead published a fourth open letter to Miley, asking for an apology.
