Johnny Marr has written the theme tune for a TV sitcom for Channel 4.

The former Smiths star has created the signature tune as well as incidental music for new show, The Increasingly Poor Decisions Of Todd Margaret.

It is Marr's first foray into TV composition, although he did contribute to the soundtrack of Leonardo DiCaprio film Inception, working with composer Hans Zimmer.

The guitarist has been a member of US band Modest Mouse and went on to join The Cribs in recent years.

The TV show - for which Marr has contributed the song Life Is Sweet - has been co-written by David Cross, who worked on TV hit Arrested Development.

Cross stars as an American office temp who bluffs this way into a senior position running the London office of a new energy drink.

Marr follows fellow Mancunian stars such as Noel Gallagher, whose Oasis track Half The World Away provided the theme to The Royle Family, while The Other Two - a New Order spin-off - wrote the theme to '90s TV comedy Common As Muck.
