AFTER her career defining performance at the Super Bowl at the weekend, Madonna has announced a world tour which includes a date in Dublin this summer.

Madonna 2012 World begins on May 29 in Tel Aviv, Israel, before hitting Lansdowne Road in Dublin on July 24 The Irish capital is one of 26 European cities where the pop superstar will perform along with shows in the US, South America, Australia and Canada.

She last played Ireland when she performed at Slane in 2004 on a Sunday afternoon, under bad weather conditions which were blamed for what was described as a lacklustre performance.

Live Nation Entertainment, the tour's international promoter, made the official announcement last night, hot on the heels of worldwide praise for her Super Bowl performance in front of an audience of 100 million.

Arthur Fogel, chief executive of Live Nation Entertainment Global Touring and Madonna tour promoter, said he was thrilled to have the star back on the road.

"Madonna's track record as a world-class entertainer and touring artist speaks for itself," he said.

"Her artistry, talent and creative productions get bigger and better with each tour and Madonna 2012 will be no exception."

Shows are being planned for arenas, stadiums and special outdoor sights including the Plains of Abraham in Quebec.

It will be the first time Madonna has played South America and Australia in 20 years.

The announcement of Madonna's 2012 World Tour follows an extraordinary week which included an extravaganza of a performance at the Super Bowl halftime which was seen in over 200 countries by over a billion people.

Last week also saw the release of Madonna's new single, "Give Me All Your Luvin" from her new album MDNA on - scheduled to be released on March 26th.

Pre orders have already catapulted MDNA to No. 1 on iTunes in 51 countries including the US, UK, Germany, France, Spain, Canada, Italy, Sweden and the Netherlands.

The single's video directed by Megaforce which also stars Nicki Minaj and MIA previewed on American Idol. Additionally, the Madonna directed Golden Globe Award winning film "W.E." opened in NY and LA with other markets to follow later in the month.

Tickets for her Dublin date go on sale on Friday February 17 at 8am priced from €54.65 to €141.
