Beyonce has revealed that reclaiming her pre-pregnancy figure was a struggle.

The Grammy-winning pop star, who gave birth to daughter Blue Ivy in January 2012, told a magazine that she had to lose her baby weight quickly, in time for a concert, reported The Huffington Post.

She told Shape magazine: "I gained 57 pounds when I was pregnant. I didn't have a lot of time to lose the weight, because I scheduled a show three months after I gave birth, which I would never do again."

Beyonce - who has posted a photo of her riding a motorbike on her Instagram account - said that the most important part of losing weight was working out what was best for her. Her routine included lots of dance workouts.

"I'm not a person that is naturally very thin. I am a person that has to work at keeping my body in shape," she explained.

"Not everyone is supposed to be the same. Be healthy and take care of yourself, but be happy with the beautiful things that make you you."

The 31-year-old, who is married to US rapper Jay-Z, is preparing for her upcoming Mrs Carter Show World Tour, which will kick off in Belgrade, Serbia, on April 15 before stopping off in 42 cities in the US and Europe.
