Leona Lewis has vowed that she will still meet fans despite being punched at a book signing.

The X Factor winner - who performed her single I Got You on So You Think You Can Dance - has stepped up her security since the incident last October, but has no plans to stop meeting fans.

"It made me realise it's always important to be vigilant and aware of your surroundings - but I don't want to make myself too closed off," she told The Sun.

"I'm in the public eye, and with that comes a certain amount of risk, but if you think about it too much, you'd never leave the house."

Last year Leona was hit by Peter Kowalcyzk as she signed copies of her autobiography Dreams in a London book store.

She continued: "I'm a positive person, I don't like to dwell on negatives and I love what I'm doing. I put myself out there in front of people every day of my life. I'm always in situations where there are lots of people."
