Lauren Laverne apologised to listeners after up-and-coming indie band Freelance Whales swore live on air during her daytime BBC radio show.
The New-York based group were taking part in what was billed as their "very first live UK radio session" on Laverne's BBC 6 Music programme, and during the segment one of the band members used the phrase "f****** awesome" when describing what audiences could expect when going to see the group play.
Laverne, who also fronts the BBC's Culture Show, told the group: "You can't say that," and apologised to listeners, getting the band to play their session.
A BBC spokeswoman said: "During Lauren Laverne's show today a member of the band Freelance Whales used inappropriate language live on air for which Lauren immediately apologised. We are sorry for any offence caused."
