Lady Gaga is celebrating vengeance over an ex-boyfriend who told her she would fail to become a star.
The award-winning new queen of pop - who wowed fans including Lily Allen and Cheryl Cole with her sell-out Monster's Ball show at London's O2 Arena at the weekend - revealed to Cosmopolitan magazine: "I had a boyfriend who told me I'd never succeed, never be nominated for a Grammy, never have a hit song, and that he hoped I'd fail."
She added: "I said to him, 'Someday, when we're not together, you won't be able to order a cup of coffee at the f*****g deli without hearing or seeing me.'"
The 23-year-old Just Dance singer - born Stefani Germanotta in New York - is finally having the last laugh now she is ruling the charts..
She said: "[I] ate s*** for so long [trying to make it in the music business]. I've always been delusionally ambitious to the point where people don't understand me."
And while Lady Gaga reveals she still plays around with men, she puts her work first.
She said: "I wanted to sleep with as many rock 'n' roll guys as I could, and I've certainly had my fun. Some women choose to follow men, and some women choose to follow their dreams. If you're wondering which way to go, remember that your career will never wake up and tell you that it doesn't love you anymore."
