Kylie honours university students
Kylie Minogue has delighted a university student by watching her perform.
The Australian singer presented Coventry University student Emma McGann with the StudyVox FM Music Award - and then watched the 19-year-old performing songs with boyfriend James Plester.
Kylie stood at the front of the crowd to listen to the music at the StudyVox headquarters in the tiny Oxfordshire village of East Hendred, nodding her head in appreciation and shouting: "Fantastic!" as she applauded them.
The singer, whose friend set up the charity three years ago, revealed while giving out the awards that on her last visit she challenged one of the staff to a game of pool - and won.
Wearing a black belted tunic, black skinny jeans and tan and black heels, she told the students: "I didn't let on that I am a pool shark, so I would like my £10 please."
Trustee Jack Lowman, who Kylie beat, duly handed over a note, insisting the stunt was not staged and telling her: "Spend it wisely."
She then jumped up and down with her winnings, saying: "I've got my tenner - excellent."
Kylie spoke to the students as they posed for the photographers, asking them: "It's weird, isn't it?" and "Have you always wondered what it's like standing in front of all these cameras? Well not any more!".
The singer told the students, some of whom had won a competition to meet her: "We've all been students and we all know what an exhilarating time of life it is but we can also sympathise with the difficulties students face, which is why I fully support the StudyVox Foundation's work and the generous bursaries to be awarded today."
