Ireland-bound indie rockers The Killers have joined the list of headlining acts at this year’s Oxegen Festival, it was revealed today.
The Las Vegas foursome will join the ranks alongside Snow Patrol, Blur and Kings Of Leon at ‘Europe’s Best Festival’.
The Killers first played Oxegen in 2004 when they headlined the New Band stage. Following the success of albums Hot Fuss and Sam’s Town they returned to Punchestown Racecourse in Co Kildare in 2007. Their third album, Day & Age, has also been a huge seller, going to number one in the charts and spawning the hit singles Human and Spaceman.
So far this year, the band has been nominated for three Meteor Awards and two Brits.
The Killers’ Odyssey Arena show this Saturday sold out within minutes of going on sale. The four-piece made its Northern Ireland debut in 2007 at the Tennents Vital festival.
Other acts lined up for this year’s Oxegen — which runs from July 10-12 — include The Tings Tings, Bloc Party, Elbow, The Script, Razorlight and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
Festival-goers wanting to ensure their place at Punchestown can secure their tickets first when they register at www.oxegen.ie. Registered users gain exclusive access to a priority pre-sale from Wednesday, February 25. To qualify you must register at oxegen.ie before 6pm on Sunday, February 22.
