Justin Timberlake has admitted it wasn't easy deciding to leave N Sync.
The pop star, who left the successful boy band in 2002 to pursue a solo career, said at the ASCAP panel in Los Angeles: "It was hard to walk away from because one of my friends said, 'You guys are bigger than bubble gum - actual bubble gum!'"
Once the SexyBack singer made a name for himself, he tried to relax and enjoy the experience.
"I've met so many talented people who are so tortured and not enjoying the journey," he added.
Justin - who is dating actress Jessica Biel - also talked about how he pays attention to the journey, as life is not all about "the goal" for him.
"I just think I find it more interesting to want something than to actually have it," he said.
"People miss out on the journey because they're so focused on the goal. The things that happen on the way are just more interesting."
