Joe McElderry has revealed he's "terrified" about stage stunts going wrong for the X Factor tour.

The show's winner, who is being hoisted above the audience in a harness, is worried that he could fall out of it and plunge into the crowds below.

"It's much harder singing while flying because the harness presses on your stomach, and just before we start, I'm always checking the harness because that would be the worst - to just drop into the audience," he told The Sun.

The X Factor contestants have performed three dates on their 40-date tour around the country, but the 18-year-old Geordie - who has already suffered a broken microphone and got stuck off stage behind a screen - is already feeling the toll.

"It is a bit tiring and I think it's just starting to catch up on everyone, but by next week we will be more used to the routines," he said.

"My set has gone wrong every night this week. I dread coming on and saying the wrong name of which city we are in," Joe added.
