Joe show must go on -- and now he's got a new album
IT seems there is still no show like a Joe show.
Two-and-a-half years after Joe Dolan's death, plans for a posthumous album of never-before-heard songs from the showband legend as well as the biggest reunion of his fans yet in Killarney in July are well advanced.
"We're doing this because even though it's two-and-a-half years since Joe passed away, the fans are still showing up in Mullingar. His records are still being played and he remains every bit as popular," Joe's brother, Ben, told the Irish Independent yesterday.
With this in mind, Ben, who played in his brother's band for 47 years, plans to release a new Joe Dolan record later this year.
"There'll be a new record by Joe coming out in October of unreleased songs. We've got some great original pop songs and some Irish folk tunes which Joe recorded. There's so much stuff left because Joe had his own studio in Mullingar and was always in there, doing bits and pieces. I've heard the material and I think his fans will love it," Ben said.
There is sure to be huge interest in the new album at the biggest gathering yet of Joe Dolan fans, due to take place over three days in July in the INEC Killarney.
