The 25-year-old's debut full-length record, I Cry When I Laugh, went straight into the top spot in the UK albums chart on its opening week.

Glynne, who underwent surgery for her vocal cords in June, told Official Charts: "I can't believe it. It's just... wow!

"It genuinely hasn't sunk in yet - it really hasn't. It's the most insane feeling to have your whole album accepted by the British public. To see how well it's been received is possibly one of the most overwhelming feelings I've ever had.

"I'm so proud and excited about this album - I love every song on it. The fact that people are buying it and loving it as well is like some insane dream."

I Cry When I Laugh includes Glynne's five number-one singles Rather Be with Clean Bandit, My Love with Route 94, Hold My Hand, Not Letting Go with Tinie Tempah, and Don't Be So Hard On Yourself, as well as top 10s Right Here and Real Love, also with Clean Bandit.

Cilla Black's greatest hits compilation The Very Best Of, which took the top spot last week, slipped to second place, followed by Bon Jovi's 13th studio album Burning Bridges in third place.

Britain's Got Talent duo Bars And Melody and Dr Dre's Compton round out the top five.

Meanwhile, US singer Rachel Platten scored her first UK chart-topper with Fight Song, which has climbed 67 places to be her first UK top 40 hit.

Platten, 34, said: "I feel so excited and so proud that Fight Song has hit number one on the Official Singles Chart. I can't really believe it.

"It's amazing to me that this song that I wrote when I was going through one of the hardest times in my life is also the thing that made my dreams come true. I'm just kind of overwhelmed and really grateful."
