The Grimes brothers, John and Edward, travelled to London yesterday to record their song with UK-based songwriters and producers, Dan Priddy, Lars Gensen, and Martin Larsson, who have penned a string of hits for JLS.

Jedward will compete against four other acts in a 'Late Late Show' special on February 11 for the right to represent Ireland in the 2011 Eurovision song contest.

MCD director Caroline Downey Desmond, who is mentoring the 'X-Factor' finalists in their bid for Eurovision glory, has pleaded with the public not to prejudge the song.

"We realise that for as many people who love Jedward, there are those who dislike them. So I'm asking people to tune in on the night and judge Jedward simply on their song and whether they can deliver it. If people keep that in mind, the best song will win," said Mrs Downey Desmond.

The twins's Eurovision bid came about after Mrs Downey Desmond was approached to be a mentor in their RTE 'Eurosong' competition.

Mrs Downey Desmond's long friendship with Jedward's manager Louis Walsh resulted in her taking on his act.

All five 'Eurosong' acts are being filmed for a TV documentary with RTE cameras covering Jedward's recording session yesterday.
