Hot Chip Alexis on Kylie rumours
Tuesday November 10 2009
Hot Chip's Alexis Taylor has come clean about the rumours they'd written a song for Kylie.
Last year it was rumoured that the electro act had written Ready For The Floor for the pop princess and, it was claimed, she was writing a song for them - but Alexis told NME: "I made the foolish error of mentioning that someone who worked with Kylie Minogue wanted us to write a song for her but we never got round to doing it.
"After a while it became a ridiculously boring topic of conversation for us, particularly because it got turned into 'We've written a song for her', it got completely misrepresented - Joe (Goddard) then thought that the best thing to do was to say anything people would believe."
Alexis went on: "He said she'd made an industrial track with farmyard noises. He felt that was fair enough. Maybe it would be good if we worked together, but I don't really want to start up a rumour again."
Hot Chip do, however, have a big name down to add their lyrics to a track on their fourth album which is due out in February - but they're keeping quiet about who it is.
Alexis said: "There's a guest vocalist I won't mention now because I've just received the files of his vocal... If that comes off that's something I'm incredibly excited about - I'd say you will have heard of this person."
