Heartbreak made Sandi work harder
Sandi Thom has revealed how heartbreak has spurred her on to work harder.
The I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker star broke up with her producer and fiance Jake Field last December, whom she had been dating for five years.
"We wrote a lot of these songs together and a lot of them ironically are about us - I'll work so much harder to make it a success, because it was our baby," she said.
Sandi, currently touring around the UK promoting her album Merchants And Thieves, reckons the split also make her performances more real.
"In a way it's serendipitious, because when I go out on stage and sing these songs, it's from the heart. My raw, emotional state helps me perform," she said.
The 28-year-old said it was an amicable split.
"This is the third album we made together, and Jake is my producer, co-writer and partner, and sometimes it's just too much," she said.
"You can't force something that isn't there any more. We're still friends. You can't spend all that time with someone, live and work with them, and not be ... we just lived out of each other's pockets, I think that's what basically ended it.
"Last year, we were going to get married and I bought a wedding dress and everything, and it's very sad but it's for the best."
