Hats off to Bono for fashioning the first guilt-free shopping spree

CAN you be socially and fashion conscious at the same time? Well the latest presentation by Edun – the clothing company founded by Bono and his wife Ali Hewson – shows you can look hip with an ethical twist.

Nearly three years since the clothing line was established, it appears to be going from strength to strength.

And that should be no surprise as the company is aiming at young twenty and thirtysomethings who favour the fresh yet low-key and laidback look.

Scarves, sweaters, T-shirts and casual jackets were featured at the company’s showing in New York recently.

However, Edun’s beige jumperstyle dress and black embellished dress looks like something that will enjoy broad appeal among women.

The laid-back look favoured by Edun appears to be a winner with Bono also who looked a million miles away from the fashionista types expected at such shows.

Attending the show last night in the Big Apple, the singer, donning his trademark shades, wore a black jacket with a grey hoodie underneath.

Edun aims to foster “trade, not aid” for Africa, by strengthening trade and jobs in developing countries. For more information, go to their website: www.edun.ie.
