Green Day to headline festivals

Punk-pop trio Green Day are among the newly announced headliners for this summer's Reading and Leeds Festivals.

The band - whose hits include Basket Case and American Idiot - join Biffy Clyro and Eminem at the top of the bill for the event, staged over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Also newly added to the line-up are Johnny Marr, Nine Inch Nails, Chase And Status, Frank Turner and The Lumineers .

The annual event sees the acts switching between the two locations for the twin site event.

Other names added to the 2013 festivals include Bastille, who are currently number one in the album chart, Editors, Phoenix, Magnetic Man and Azealia Banks.
