Gorillaz' Roundhouse gig live on TV
Gorillaz sold-out performance at north London venue The Roundhouse is to be broadcast live on MTV.
The animated band, created by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett, headlined Coachella Festival at the weekend and will play two sold-out nights at Camden's Roundhouse in London on April 29 and 30 with guests including Bashy, De La Soul, Kano, Little Dragon, Mos Def, National Orchestra for Arabic Music, Gruff Rhys, Shaun Ryder, and Bobby Womack.
Bassist Murdoc Niccals told MTV: "I am quite literally holding my breath until I walk out on stage at the Roundhouse - it's hosted some legendary gigs - The Clash, The Doors and my own personal favourite, The Greasy Truckers Party. With my deep, dark basslines poured all over them this gig is going to melt your brain. Watch out goth girls of Camden - it's going to be loud!"
The gigs, showcasing the band's latest album Plastic Beach, will include full production, featuring video animation, artwork and film by Jamie Hewlett.
These are the first Gorillaz shows in London since 2001 and will be filmed exclusively by MTV UK's in-house production team and broadcast globally reaching 600 million households in 170 countries, as part of MTV's World Stage franchise.
Fans will be able to watch live streaming of tracks from Plastic Beach at http://gorillaz.mtv.com
The performance will also stream on Gorillaz.com and through the Gorillaz's Facebook page.
