BOB Geldof is going to reunite with the Boomtown Rats for the first time in more than 25 years this summer.
However, two of the original members will be missing due to other commitments, the Irish Independent has learned.
The band has been announced for the main stage of the UK's Isle of White festival on Sunday, June 16. And they are also looking at the possibility of a show in Dublin.
"Playing again with the Rats and doing those great songs again will be exciting afresh," said Geldof. "We were an amazing band and I just feel it's the right time to re-Rat, to go back to Boomtown for a visit."
However, the line-up will only feature four original members: singer Geldof; guitarist Garry Roberts; bass player Pete Briquette; and drummer Simon Crowe. Original members keyboardist Johnny Fingers and guitarist Gerry Cott will be missing.
"Johnny is married now and lives in Japan, so it's a little more complicated, and Gerry has a really successful business which makes it more difficult for him to get involved," said guitarist Roberts.
