Forest Whitaker has revealed he is planning to make a biopic about Louis Armstrong.
The Oscar winner is looking forward to undertaking the film about the legendary jazz singer.
"I'm planning on starting it next year and I'll direct as well as star as Louis Armstrong - there are so many recordings of Louis performing, as well as interviews, so I have a lot to pull from," he told Parade.com.
Forest, who stars with Jude Law in Repo Men, has been doing research for the role.
"I'm slowly getting into his vibe - learning the songs and trying to understand his life," he explained.
"You'll see some things that may surprise you, like he smoked marijuana every day. He even wrote to the president in support of legalising pot.
"But the bottom line is the movie will be about Louis' desire to connect with everyone as one big family. His music was the vehicle that he used to make that happen."
