Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has revealed the band will be heading into the studio in September to start recording new songs.

Dave, who will also be releasing new material with Them Crooked Vultures, said the Foo Fighters have just begun writing tracks for their seventh studio album, the eagerly awaited follow-up to 2007's Echoes, Silence, Patience And Grace.

"Foo Fighters have just started writing and we're going to start recording in September so life is full of music," the guitarist-drummer told BBC 6 Music.

Dave is being kept busy, as Them Crooked Vultures bandmate John Paul Jones previously said that the band hope to record their second album "by the end of summer, something like that".
