Tens of thousands revelled in the festivities during the Cork Jazz Festival over the weekend -- with headline acts in the city including British musician Steve Winwood and Herbie Hancock (above), who received the Guinness Jazz Legend Award last night.
Previous winners include Jimmy Smith and the late Humphrey Lyttleton. Charlie Haden was named Personality of the Festival; the Rising Star award was given to Robert Glasper; and jazz drummer David Lyttle won the Best Young Irish Musician trophy; while the Alex Mathias Quartet from Dublin scooped the Best Young Band award.
