Paul Simon

:: Paul Frederic Simon was born on October 13, 1941, in Newark, New Jersey.



:: He and Art Garfunkel released their first single in 1957, although then they were known as Tom & Jerry. He was also part of a group called Tico & The Triumphs who tasted some success in 1962.



:: After an audition with Clive Davis in 1964, Simon & Garfunkel signed to Columbia records and released their first album, Wednesday Morning, 3AM, in October of that year.



:: The duo's fifth and final LP together, Bridge Over Troubled Water, was released in 1970 and has sold in excess of 25 million copies.



:: Paul Simon has won 12 Grammy awards and received a further five nominations. He's also been nominated for an Oscar and received the first Library Of Congress Gershwin Award in 2007 for Popular Song.
