THEY are the family band who became an internet sensation after a US chat-show queen 'tweeted' about the group.
Cork three-piece Crystal Swing attracted half a million hits on YouTube -- but singer Mary Murray-Burke is ready to step aside to give her son and daughter a stab at success on their own.
The mother, who is in her early 40s, believes Derek and Dervla will hit the big time as a boy-girl act.
The musicians have received floods of offers from around the world. And with gigs around the country in May, the three-piece are drafting in extra members for the shows, including one at Waterford's Theatre Royal on May 14 and 15, and Cork's Opera House on May 16.
"Even though people say I am a good singer myself, I feel I have brought them as far as I can," said Mary.
"I have had my day and I want them to get a future in music and branch out into their own styles. That's why, this time next year, Derek and Dervla will be going off on their own because I think the boy-girl thing really works."
The Midleton woman said she only came to the decision in recent days.
"This has all come so fast; we have all had to make a lot of decisions. Obviously, I will still be on board. They are wonderful children and I would die for them, but I feel I am quite capable of managing them. They have raw talent which needs to be picked up on," she added.
Since appearing on 'The Late Late Show' two weeks ago, the outfit have seen their single 'He Drinks Tequila', originally a hit for the US country artist Lorrie Morgan and her then husband Sammy Kershaw, become a top 20 hit in Ireland.
But the group are setting their long-term sights on the US, where they have caught the eye of chat-show queen Ellen DeGeneres, who has 'tweeted' about the group and advised viewers to watch their video.
"There seems to be a lot of interest from America. We've had offers to do TV shows," said Mary.
However, for the moment, 'Crystal Swing', named in part after Mary's favourite singer, Crystal Gayle, are concentrating on their career here.
