The TV veteran, who died in August aged 72, was the second most searched celebrity, beaten only by Taylor Swift.

Kardashian was third on the list compiled by Microsoft's search engine Bing.

Completing the top five was Caitlyn Jenner at four and Ed Sheeran at five.

Celebrity Big Brother topped the list of the most searched celebrity news, followed by Jenner's debut and Madonna's tumble at the Brit Awards.

Zayn Malik leaving One Direction only came in at number eight on the news list.

Little Mix were at number one on the list of celebrities on the rise, with Kylie Jenner at two and Olly Murs at three.

The top film was Stars Wars Episode VII, with Jurassic World at two and Fifty Shades Of Grey at three.

James Bond film Spectre was at four, according to the Bing list.

Mark Ronson's Uptown Funk was the most searched for track, followed by Hozier's Take Me To Church and Swift's Bad Blood.

Speaking about the annual search review of the year, Kevin Stagg, Bing's head of consumer marketing, said: "Our Bing annual search data is always a good barometer of who's hot and who's not in any given year - and 2015 is no exception.

"Back in the summer we saw the sad passing of Cilla Black - and with the celebration and focus on her life she surpassed the Kardashians, Jenners, and chart toppers of today like Rita Ora and Ariana Grande in search numbers."
