Charlotte Church has revealed she is considering a return to opera.
The 24-year-old singer-songwriter - who rose to fame as the "Voice of an Angel" age 11 after singing Pie Jesu on a TV talent show - is about to release her second pop album, but told the Daily Telegraph she would like to retrain for a classical performance, if she can give up smoking.
Charlotte said: "I'd love to do an opera some time - I still sing in that classical voice, at home on my own, in the dark!
She added: "I'll never lose that; it's as tough as old boots. But it would mean I'd have to stop smoking and go back to training for a year or two. And I will. I know it seems I've been around for ever, but there's so much I want to do, and I've got youth on my side."
The mother to three-year-old Ruby and 21-month-old Dexter admits: "I'm a wretched smoker. I'm not drinking these days, so you've got to have one vice.
"I'll stop before my kids notice. But I quite like the tone it's giving my voice, lots of lovely depth, and I haven't lost the top end at all. That's my excuse."
Charlotte, who has been indulging her love of singing through karaoke for the last five years, revealed her split from fiance Gavin Henson had inspired some of her new album.
She said: "Maybe music needs to be pre-empted by a little pain.
"Unless you're Kate Bush, you can't really write interesting songs about domesticity, washing baby clothes and breast-feeding. I didn't really have the inspiration.
"But things change. Gavin and I were growing apart for a little while. It was quietly painful."
